Working with a bad signal: drafts and recovery

Jobsites have dead zones. The New Extra form protects your in-progress work locally on your device so an interruption does not mean starting over.

How draft protection works

As you fill in the New Extra form, your entries are continuously saved to your phone or computer's own storage. If the browser closes, the phone dies, or you lose signal before submitting, reopen New Extra within 24 hours and your unsent draft is restored exactly where you left off.

Unsent drafts are kept for 24 hours; a connection problem retries with no timer

A draft you never submitted may contain stale pricing or scope wording, so OuttaScope restores only recent unsent work -- after 24 hours, start the capture fresh. Work you did submit is different: a connection problem (bad signal, a timeout) is retried automatically in the background with no timer, and you do not need to do anything. If the server actually refuses the submission for a different reason -- a subscription or validation problem, for example -- OuttaScope stops retrying and shows a red "This needs your attention" alert on the extra instead. That one needs you to fix the underlying issue and resubmit, or discard it; it will not clear itself no matter how long you wait.

Submitting without a signal

If you're offline when you save, the extra is kept on your phone or computer and sent automatically once you're back online -- from any screen of the app, not just New Extra -- and it will not be duplicated. The Settings screen shows what is still waiting to sync. Sending the approval link to your customer is the one step that always needs a live connection.

What happens next

Once the server confirms it, the extra is stored in your workspace and shows up on any device you sign in from.
